Neillsville City Council Approves 2016 Taxi Service Grant Application

-The Neillsville City Council approved the 2016 Taxi Service grant application with Clark County at their meeting on Tuesday.The city and the county need to submit the 2016 DOT Transportation Aids for the program, so they'll be working together to get that completed. Some other items brought up in regards to the Taxi Service were brought up during a Transit Committee meeting held on Tuesday, September 15th.
The 2016 estimated service schedule was presented. If all the available service hours are used, annual driver hours will be 7919 with an estimated 14,570 annual trips covering 81,100 miles. In 2015, the number of trips was down a bit, but revenue was up.
The 2016 estimated expenses and revenues were also presented. Currently, for 2016 it looks like the taxi service for the city will have a deficit of $168,764. The committee discussed ways to cut back or reduce the costs of the taxi service. They also approved creating an agency fare. Agency fares are paid by human services agencies for the use of transit services by their clients.
