(Emily Van Ort, WQOW)Black River Falls Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire Thursday evening during a heavy thunderstorm.
According to authorities, the fire was located on the second floor of the home in an office area of the home where there was a hole blown in the drywall, by what appears to be a lightning strike. The electrical wiring was charred. A burning mattress and box spring were located near the wall and had been removed from the home owners, James and Annette Dickman.
Authorities said a number of outlets and light switches on the first and second floors had covers blown off, and were also charred from the strike. Crews believe the lightning strike hit the home's TV antenna and traveled throughout the home.
The fire department was on scene for a little over an hour.
