-The three Marshfield teens accused of sexual assault appeared in Wood County Court on Friday morning.17-year-old Kyle Howlett, 17-year-old Ryan Rodeghier and 18-year Anthony Christmas had various charges filed against them after they were accused of sexually assaulting a 14 year-old girl. Earlier this week, additional charges were filed against Howlett and Rodeghier after they were accused of sexually assaulting another 14-year-old.
The three teens appeared in Wood County Court for a preliminary hearing and arraignment. For Christmas, he was charged with child sexual exploitation as he was accused of just filming the assault. The Wood County Assistant District Attorney asked to dismiss that case stating he would have a hard time proving Christmas' involvement with it. Christmas no longer has any charges or involvement in regards to this incident.
Howlett has two counts of 2nd degree sexual assault of a child filed against him in two cases and Rodeghier has three counts of 2nd degree sexual assault of a child filed against him for two cases. They waived the preliminary hearing so the judge automatically found probable cause and their court proceedings will continue. They also entered not guilty pleas to the charges.
It was also stated that the defense is going to file a motion to have the complaint dismissed in this case given the ages of the defendants at the time of the incident. Both teens will be back in court for a pre-trial conference in early October.
