Marshfield Clinic Will Open New Hospital Next Year

Marshfield Clinic announced on Tuesday that it will open a hospital in Marshfield next year..The Marshfield News Herald reports that clinic officials are still discussing what specific kinds of services to provide at the hospital, but it will offer in-patient services by the middle of 2016 within the east wing of the existing clinic's Marshfield campus. The hospital would be an initial stepping stone for Marshfield Clinic as it pursues building a $175 million new facility ? dubbed the "hospital of the future" ? which would later be connected to the east wing when construction is completed in 2018.
In a press release, Marshfield Clinic said it expects Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital ? which is located next to the clinic ? will no longer be offering certain specialty services in Marshfield that it provides in other cities.
Marshfield Clinic has been in talks with Ministry since 2008 about building a new hospital in Marshfield, and the clinic had offered to buy Saint Joseph's outright or least some of its beds. The release states that to date such offers have not been accepted.
