Man Dies In Gun Incident

According to a Marathon County news release, Marathon County deputies assisted Clark County Tuesday for a vehicle involved in an incident in Clark County where a gun was fired.Marathon County deputies found the vehicle in northwestern Marathon County, between Athens and Edgar. According to the release, while deputies waited for additional officers to respond to the scene to stop the vehicle, the driver stopped, got out of the vehicle and ran into the woods. Deputies and a K-9 team tracked the male subject for almost an hour and located him in the back of a semi-trailer.
The news release said that he had a handgun and deputies ordered him to drop it, but the male shot himself. Because deputies were present when the shooting occurred, Marathon County called in outside law enforcement agencies to assist in the investigation.
Authorities are not releasing the male's name pending notification of his family.
