Clark County Clean Sweep on Friday
Thursday, August 27th, 2015 -- 11:02 AM
-The Clark County UW-Extension Office is holding an Ag and Household Clean Sweep Tire, Battery and Appliance Collection on Friday, August 28th.Melissa Kono, the CNRED Agent for Clark County, explained what the Clean Sweep is and where it is.
She said, "The Clean Sweep is a chance for Clark County residents to bring in hazardous ag and household materials that they might have on hand. It's just a safe way to dispose of them. We're also taking appliances, electronics, so TV's, computers. This year we are doing medication drop offs. So, over the counter meds and prescription meds people no longer need can be brought in and safely disposed of just to get them out of your home if you no longer need them or don't want them to get into the wrong hands. We're also taking tires. There is a minimum charge too for some of these items to be disposed of. Batteries, auto batteries, small engine, motorcycle, lawn mower and well pumps also."
She continued, "We are having two. The first is from 8:30am-10:30am in Owen at the county garage. And then we'll be ending the day in Neillsville at the Fairgrounds and that goes from 2pm-5pm."
As Melissa mentioned, there is a slight fee to bring in some of the items and that's happening tomorrow in Owen and Neillsville.
