-A Spencer woman found guilty of trying to hire someone to kill two people has been sentenced for the incident.According to the Clark County Sheriff's Department, Shari Klimmer and Porscha Rizzi tried to hire someone to kill the fathers of Rizzi's two children. According to testimony from detectives and investigators with the Clark County Sheriff's Department, both Klimmer and Rizzi approached two different individuals about trying to kill the fathers of Rizzi's two children. The women provided photos, addresses and vehicle descriptions of the two men. The two individuals they approached came forward because they said the women seemed very serious and were afraid someone would get hurt.
Klimmer pleaded guilty to one charge of conspiracy to committee 1st degree intentional homicide back in May. A 2nd charge was dismissed and read in. During the sentencing hearing, the Clark County District Attorney read a letter from one of the intended victims, stating how scared he and his family is because of this attempt. The DA went on to say that, although Klimmer doesn't have much court history, her intent was to kill these people. She asked for 15-18 years in jail with 7-10 years of extended supervision. She also asked for no contact with the intended victims, their families, her co-defendant and her grandchildren.
The defense attorney argues that although the crime is serious, nothing actually happened and the victims weren't in danger due to police intervention. She also stated that her client had no intention of carrying this out. The defense asked for over 20 years of supervision. Klimmer offered her apologies to the intended victims and their families. She said she was stressed and depressed when this occurred and she worried that her grandkids were being abused. She claimed she asked for help from the authorities, but nothing every came of it. She said she never wanted the men dead.
The judge then stated that she did want them dead, because she put this ship in motion. He told her probation is not going to happen in this case because of the seriousness of it and he said that her claim of not wanting this act a reality was BS. In the end, he sentenced Klimmer to 7 years in prison with 9 years of extended supervision. He also granted the no contact request the DA asked for.
Rizzi, the co-defendant, has pleaded guilty and she'll be sentenced in September. Rizzi's grandmother is also facing charges for helping break conditions of her bond. Sharon Klimmer will be in court on Friday for a motion hearing.
