Owen Man Enters Plea for Running from Authorities

An Owen man charged with escaping from the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center, stealing a car, running from authorities and crashing the car into a garage has entered a plea to the charges.According to the criminal complaint, on May 16th, two Clark County deputies were dispatched to the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center after a nurse informed them that 20-year-old Ty Lanz had escaped with two other individuals. Lanz escaped and stole a vehicle in Owen while the two other individuals were caught. Lanz led authorities on a high speed chase that reached speeds of 100mph. Eventually, Lanz crashed into a vehicle sitting in a driveway near Stanley.
Lanz has numerous charges against him including battery, disorderly conduct, recklessly endangering safety, criminal damage to property and more. Lanz pleaded guilty to battery and taking a vehicle without consent. The rest were dismissed and read in. He'll be back in court in October for sentencing.
