Clark County Sheriff's Department Provides More Information on Animals Seized from Neillsville Farm

Thursday, August 20th, 2015 -- 10:00 AM

-We have more information for you about the animals seized from a local Neillsville farm.

According to a press release from the Clark County Sheriff's Department, on Saturday August 15th, the Clark County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of animals at large at N4139 Marg Ave, in the township of Pine Valley. Upon arriving at the residence it was discovered that several animals were without water or food in the 90 degree heat. Officers gave the animals water and the Clark County Humane Deputy was notified of the conditions.

A warrant was obtained the next day and several animals were discovered in the residence, basement and barn areas. The conditions that the dogs were living in were deplorable. There was an overwhelming smell of ammonia emanating from inside the residence. Officers discovered that the floors were covered in fecal matter and urine. One of the dogs removed from the basement had to jump into a window to get out of the liquid on the floor.

Officers also discovered several horses that were in extremely poor health and removed them. There were 43 dogs and 6 horses removed from the property. Officers at the scene were assisted by employees from the Clark County Humane Society, Midwest Horse Welfare Federation and a veterinarian from Grassland Veterinarian Services. The Clark County Humane Society took the dogs and the Midwest Horse Welfare Federation took the horses.

Several charges of animal neglect will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for the owner, Carolyn Christie 53 yrs. old.
