Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Announce 60-Day Special Enrollment Period
Monday, August 10th, 2015 -- 11:38 AM
-Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has announced a 60-day special enrollment period for consumers whose income was incorrectly inflated during the most recent enrollment season. The special enrollment period, which began Aug. 1, is for consumers who were incorrectly told they qualified for fewer subsidies than they should have received. The problem was caused by a Social Security glitch that inflated household income.
The glitch was corrected, but not before some consumers received incorrect information. CMS is sending letters to enrollees who may have been affected. They will be told they may be able to make application updates that will be applied retroactively to their accounts.
