39 Traffic-Related Deaths In July

The 39 people killed in Wisconsin traffic-related crashes last month make it the safest July in terms of traffic deaths since the end of World War II.The deadliest Julys in Wisconsin history occurred in 1966 and 1971 - 140 traffic deaths were recorded in July of those two years.
Through the first seven months of this year, Wisconsin has experienced 294 traffic deaths ? that's in line with the five year average for the period ? but up about 18 percent from the 249 traffic deaths recorded through July of last year.
The month of August got off to a deadly start. There were at least seven traffic deaths noted along Wisconsin roadways on Saturday, August 1.
