Owen City Council Report

The Owen City Council heard the DRC report at their meeting last week.The DRC is busy planning the Car Show and Burn Out Contest to be held on August 15th. So far $2,300 has been raised from local business contributions.
The Owen-Withee Chamber of Commerce held a small ribbon cutting ceremony for the Dollar General on Wednesday, July 29th. They are open for business but not all products are in stock and this is to train their new employees also. The official grand opening ceremony will be conducted by the Clark County Economic Development at a later date.
It was also mentioned that parks and rec are working on a bridge proposal and warming shed plan.
Tim Swiggum will be attending a final training in September in Baltimore to complete his certification for Economic Development Professional Certification. Swiggum has applied for a scholarship to pay for some expenses and the council approved up to $1,000 for Swiggum to use towards other expenses, air fare and motel for him to attend this final training
