Owen City Council Discussed Two Unfit Dwellings

-The Owen City Council discussed two unfit dwellings at their meeting last week.Two properties were brought to the Mayor's attention with one being on 3rd Street and the other on 2nd Street. The council approved to have the city's building inspector Bob Christensen contact each property owner, complete inspections, followed by a letter and give 30 days to comply.
Fred Schindler contacted Tim Swiggum regarding the Clark County Rehab & Living Center putting up an electronic message board across Highway 29 on the city property zoned commercial. The WDOT told Schindler that they are not allowed to put the sign on county land zoned agricultural. The item was tabled until more information is received.
Finally, the council was reminded of the retirement celebration for Librarian Shirley Lehr on the Library lawn held at the end of July.
