Clark County Fairest of the Fair Contestants, Part 3 Candidate Shania Gorton

Friday, July 24th, 2015 -- 12:26 PM

-Clark County has four contestants running for Fairest of the Fair this year.

The new candidates will replace the outgoing court of Kelsey Rueth as Fairest of the Fair, Katarina Nemitz as 1st attendant and Shania Gorton as 2nd attendant.

The next candidate I spoke with was Shania Gorton of Loyal and she's sponsored by Grassland Dairy Products of Greenwood. Shania is the 2nd attendant of this year's court and she explained why she's running for Fairest of the Fair again.

"As some people might now, I was the 2nd attendant this past year and I loved it so much I'm not ready to be done. And, also, I saw what Kelsey was able to do as Fairest of the Fair and I kind of what to get that chance as well. That would be the main reason. To inspire Clark County.

Shania talked about the things she's done this year as the 2nd attendant for Clark County's Fairest of the Fair.

"We did this dairy promotion event in Loyal and she counted up how many community service hours we did and it came to 86 and that was just three weeks ago. But, by going to UW-Platteville, which is 4 hours from Loyal, I thought I did a pretty good job getting to as many things as possible. I only missed a few things and that was during finals week."

She also told me what she's looking forward to in this process of running and if she's selected.

"A lot of people say parades and queen's tea and stuff, but I really like just getting a chance to hang out with the kids. By being the 2nd attendant I realized that, as I mother, maybe I want tons of kids just because I love it so much. But, yes, hanging out with kids and help them with things that they want to overcome and learn to do too."

The Fairest of the Fair Coronation is being held Wednesday, August 5th at 7:30pm at the Clark County Fairgrounds. The event is open to the public with refreshments to follow. And we'll have a special live interview with all the candidates on 107.5 WCCN on that Wednesday, around 4pm.
