Budget Preview and Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015 -- 8:20 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board previewed the next school year's budget at their meeting last week.Initial aid estimates from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction show that the district will lose $38,075 in state aid in 2015-16 or a 1.17% reduction in aid. This loss of aid will necessitate an increase in property taxes to cover the loss. From all indications the district should see flat aid revenues, but they should see increases in sparsity aid and transportation aid. Early indications are that revenue and expenditures should be very close to 2014-15 levels.
The board also heard the Administrators' Reports. Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the final weeks of summer school and how well the food service program has operated this summer. A high count of 168 students ate lunch this summer with an average of about 140 students eating lunch on a daily basis.
Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie Van Ark reported on the NHS fun run held in conjunction with the Owen Junior Fair. Football practice begins on August 3rd with cross country and volleyball starting on August 17th. The PLC Leadership Team is finalizing their theme and goal for the 2015-16 school year.
