-A new record was set Saturday by one of the runners in the Karner Blue 5K-10K-Half Marathon races sponsored by the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce.Dana Feyen, 14, of Trempealeau, won the women's 10K race in 40 minutes, 53 seconds, shattering the previous record of 45:36 set in 2007 by Leslie Guttenberg. Feyen's performance highlighted a day which saw 143 registrants in the three races, plus several dozen youngsters who competed in the Kids Race.
"Overall it was a fantastic event," said Chris Hardie, executive director of the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce. "We had a great group of runners from all ages." Hardie said he was very impressed with the efforts and coordination of the many volunteers ? led by race co-chairs Joe Williams and Amanda Gunn . "This was my first time being involved in the race and I can see that it would not happen without a lot of work from many people who help out," Hardie said.
