(AP) -Officials at the Edgar school district in central Wisconsin are proposing a new online reporting tool for bullying after a 16-year-old student took his own life. The Edgar School Board released a draft Wednesday of changes to the district's bullying policy. The online tool would be used by students and parents, and school officials would have to respond within five days. The draft also more clearly defines bullying.
The proposal follows a June 29 board meeting during which more than 20 people spoke about a culture of bullying in the district and said officials weren't doing enough. The meeting came shortly after the student's death, and his family believes bullying was a factor. District administrator Cari Guden says the proposal would be finalized for the board's August meeting.
