Black River Falls Man Sentenced for Reckless Homicide

Tuesday, July 7th, 2015 -- 2:30 PM

-A Black River Falls man was sentenced for a reckless homicide charge filed against him in Clark County Court.

In January of 2013, 20-year-old William Wilkinson-Hurst was found dead in his home and an exam determined that he died of an overdose from the drug fentanyl. A Deputy Coroner said the autopsy determined that the level of fentanyl in Hurst's body was twice the normal prescribed amount. Richard Madsen and Jessica Scoville, of Fairchild, allegedly supplied the drug to Hurst. Both Madsen and Scoville have been charged with reckless homicide, party to a crime.

Madsen pleaded no contest to, and was found guilty of, the reckless homicide charge and a felony bail jumping charge earlier this year. Three charges of possession of a controlled substance were dismissed and read in. Madsen was sentenced to 2 year in jail and 5 years' probation due to a plea deal reached. Madsen must cooperate fully with authorities in regards to the case against his co-defendant in this matter, Jessica Scoville. Scoville has a jury trial scheduled for January.
