Neillsville Police Department Looking for Suspect Possibly Involved in a Robbery of a Local Business

-On Tuesday, July 7th, at 6:53 A.M., the Clark County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from an employee of the Melvin Ready-Mix Concrete Company at 501 West 8th Street in the City of Neillsville reporting the theft of some fuel from the business.According to the caller, the suspect was still in the area. Officers from the Neillsville Police Department and Clark Co. Sheriff's Department responded. It was reported the employee confronted the suspect when he was observed siphoning fuel from one of the tanks. The suspect ran off into a wooded area west of Grand Avenue along the O'Neill Creek. Officers investigated the attempted theft and cleared from the scene to interview a potential suspect. Two deputies remained in the area.
At 7:53 A.M., a Clark Co. Deputy requested assistance back at Melvin Company as the suspect returned to the scene to retrieve some items he left and was confronted once again by an employee. The suspect assaulted the employee and once again ran off into the wooded area west of Grand Avenue along the O'Neill Creek. Officers and Sheriff's deputies responded and set up a perimeter. K-9 teams from the Clark Co. Sheriff's Department and Loyal Police Department were called in to search the area for the suspect. The suspect was not located.
