UW-Milwaukee Will Take Biggest Hit in Budget Cuts

Tuesday, July 7th, 2015 -- 8:19 AM

(AP) -New documents show the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will take the biggest hit under a $250 million cut to the UW System in the state budget.

System officials released their 2015-16 budget Monday. The plan shows UW-Milwaukee will take a $4.5 million cut. UW-Madison will take the next biggest cut at $4 million. The other four-year campuses will see cuts ranging from $768,000 to $1.9 million.

The budget materials did not include details on how the campuses will deal with the cuts. The state budget prohibits the schools from raising resident tuition for the next two years. The Board of Regents in April approved tuition increases for out-of-state students by a least several hundred dollars. The Board of Regents is expected to approve the system budget Thursday.
