Owen City Council Discusses a Couple Topics During Public Opinion Portion of the Meeting

-The Owen City Council discussed a couple different items during the public opinion portion of their meeting on Tuesday of last week. One resident questioned if the city could do anything to reduce the noise created by trains sounding their horns when traveling through town. Owen Clerk Terri Ernst will contact the railroad and the City of Marshfield and Spencer as they recently made changes regarding the noise created by trains when traveling through the cities.
Another alderman reported that the last meeting was done unprofessionally and it looked bad for an Alderman to speak towards an employee the way it occurred. At a previous meeting there was a heated discussion between a council member and the Owen Chief of Police in regards to locking the doors of the bathrooms in the Owen Park. The councilmen went on to say the he thinks the Council priorities are misdirected. He thinks the Police Department should better spend their time enforcing the law and catching drug dealers instead of locking the bathroom doors every evening.
Owen's Mayor responded it's not high priority that the bathroom doors be locked every night especially if the police are busy with enforcement. But if the Police are on duty and the Public Works are not, and they have time to check and lock the bathroom doors then that's what they are to do.
