-The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a brush pile fire Tuesday evening. The call came in around 7:20pm on Tuesday. It was reported that there was smoke coming from behind a building with no one around.
Upon the department's arrival, they found a brush pile burning behind the building with no one attending the fire. The department put out the fire and was on scene for 20 minutes. No one was hurt in the incident. The owner of the building did show and stated that he had lite the fire.
Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer wants to remind residents that if they're going to burn, they need to call the Sheriff's Department to let them know they're burning so the fire department isn't called out. The individual in this incident didn't want the fire department there, but a passerby noticed the smoke and called it in on their cell phone. Chief Meyer stated that it will save them time and bad feelings if people just call the Sheriff's Department and let them know they're burning.
