Granton School Board Approves New High School Course

-The Granton School Board discussed a new high school course at their meeting.

The Board approved the new high school course, Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) in the Technology Education Department, as presented.  The Board also approved the 2021-22 school calendar as presented and approved the summer school program as presented. Summer School classes will be offered through June including swim lessons through July.

The Board also approved the transportation services agreement with Neillsville School District for the 2021-22 school year.  The Board also discussed transportation options for the hockey co-op.  Administration will make the final decision on transportation.

The Board also reviewed COVID-19 Protocol Plan and made no changes continuing with the current face mask requirement until the May Board meeting.  The Board was also provided an update on the prime vendor bid, the summer food service program, and the CEP (Community Eligibility Program).

The Board also approved the Granton School Strategic Plan working document as presented, approved the resignation of Kayleigh Vantassel and thanked her for her service, approved the resignation of Sarah Chamberlin and thanked her for her service, and approved the resignation of Jennifer Lade and thanked her for her service.

The Board also approved the preliminary notice of non-renewal for Courtney Schoessow for the one-year position of Health Coordinator/Substitute Teacher position for 2021-22 and approved a 66.03 Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement at 50% for Library Media Specialist with Loyal School District for 2021-22.

They also approved Dan Hebert as Athletic Director for 2021-22, approved Cody Roggenbauer as Track Coach for 2020-21, and approved Katie Rieder as Assistant Track Coach for 2020-21.

In other items, Principal Amanda Kraus introduced FFA member Lizzy Reinart who gave a presentation on FFA activities.  Tanner Friedemann, Student Council President, reported on forensics students advancing to state competition, FFA activities, NHS week activities, and baseball practice has begun. 

Board Member Paul Knoff reported that the Negotiations Committee met in March.  Also, Board Members Paul Knoff and Theresa Hasz took their Official Oath of Office from the April 6th Election.

Finally, the Board heard the Administrators’ Reports.  Mrs. Kraus updated the board regarding an update from teacher check-in's with students, Elementary student testing boot camp, extra-curricular student survey, WIN ( or What I Need) software program pilot school, and Graduation plans. 

Superintendent James Kuchta updated the board on the GCCCC (Granton Community Childcare Center) update, the health insurance renewal, ESSER Federal Funds, and the Crystal Apple Award Banquet.
