Guest Speaker at Clark County Tourism Meeting
Thursday, June 18th, 2015 -- 8:15 AM
-Member of the Clark County Economic Development Corporation's Tourism Bureau, the Clark County UW-Extension and others heard a presentation from Mark Livengood, Grant Program Director from Wisconsin Humanities Council on Wednesday afternoon in Loyal.Mr. Livengood talked about the Humanities Council being a non-profit organization with the UW-Extension. They receive funds from the federal government and then a 20 person board takes a percentage of those funds and gives them to organizations as grants. They create programs that use history, culture and conservation to strengthen the community.
There are some requirements for those seeking grants. They must provide a 1-to-1 match, but that match can include volunteer hours having the match be an in kind effort. They must also be a Wisconsin organization and have public humanities/humanities experts.
There are two types of grants, mini and major, and they have different deadline periods throughout the year. If you'd like to learn more about the Humanities Council and their grant program, please visit their website.
