Black River Falls Man Accused of Hitting Merillan Man Appears in Court

-A Black River Falls man accused of drunk driving and hitting a Merillan man appeared in Jackson County Court on Monday.According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened around 9pm on U.S. Highway 12/27 near the westbound ramp of I-94.
The department said that Dean Brown was walking home from work when he was struck by Joseph Cholka of Black River Falls. Brown had injuries to his face, mouth and leg.
Cholka was arrested and charged for his 5th OWI. He was also charged with bail jumping and operating after revocation among other charges. During his bail/bond hearing on Monday, his $500 cash bond was lowered to $100. He'll be in court for a plea hearing next month.
