Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators' Reports at their meeting last week.

Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie VanArk reported on summer school starting in the high school. Mr. Eichstadt is teaching a credit recovery English course, Mr. Lewison is teaching Driver's Ed. and Ms. Koehler and Mr. Bednar will be teaching the online credit recovery course.

Mrs. Jaskot, Mrs. Scheuer, Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Klapatauskas will meet with Mrs. VanArk to develop Hawk Time which will be implemented with 7th and 8th grade students next fall. This RTI, or Response to Intervention, time will be used to help students improve grades. The PLC leadership team will be attending the Quality Educator Initiative Conference in Madison on June 17th-19th. Mr. Engel and fourteen students are attending the stat FFA convention in Madison June 15th-18th. Hailey Keene will be competing in the National FBLA Competition in Chicago June 29th?July 2nd and it's been 15 years since Owen-Withee had a competitor in the Nationals.

District Administrator Bob Houts reported on the education issues that are being created by the 2015-17 state budget. Teacher licensure, home schooled kids participating in the public school co-curricular activities and flat state aid for special education, the 8th year in a row, are all concerns raised by the proposed budget. He also reported on the project that is being developed with regards to the Town of Hoard School Forest. The idea of developing a pipeline system for harvesting sap from maple trees will be brought to the board at the July meeting.
