Owen-Withee School Board Hears Update About Summer School

Thursday, June 11th, 2015 -- 8:16 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard an update on the district's summer school program.

Jodi Rahn and Brandi Tranberg reported to the board on the summer school sessions that will start on June 15th. Over 200 students have registered for summer school courses. Classes will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon.

Two different class sessions will be held each morning and classes will change each week. Summer school will run for two weeks, then there will be a week off for the 4th of July and then a three week period will start on July 6th. Free breakfast and lunch will be served each day of summer school. These meals are available to any student in the district, not just those in the summer school program.

The board also heard an update about being a charter school. The elementary PLC leadership team will be attending the Innovative Schools Conference on June 10 and 11 to gather information regarding charter schools and STEM. As of now, there is no grant money available through the DPI to plan and implement a charter school.
