-A change to an ordinance, billboard leases, a grant and more were approved at the Neillsville City Council meeting on Tuesday. The council approved accepting a Recycling Grant from the DNR in the amount of $9,356.31. This was $1.10 less than 2014's amount. The council also approved the billboard leases for the two billboards in the industrial park. The city leases the land the billboards are on to a company and the company pays the city $600 a year for each billboard or $1,200 a year total. The contract needs to be renewed every 5 years.
Finally, the council approved a change to a city ordinance regarding harassing or obscene phone calls. The city already had this ordinance in the books, but Neillsville Police Chief Scott Klueckmann decided that changes were needed in regards to 911 calls. It was stated the department has received 911 calls where people just want to talk or they're complaining about something that has nothing to do with the Police Department. People could now face fines for abusing the 911 system.
