Legislative Paper Caucus to Promote Industry

Sunday, June 7th, 2015 -- 10:15 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) - State Representatives Nancy VanderMeer and Scott Krug as well as Senators Roger Roth and Tom Tiffany, are being praised for creating the all-new Wisconsin Paper Caucus.

The informal body made up of legislators from both houses will work together to develop common sense policy solutions which will help sustain and promote the papermaking manufacturing sector throughout the state. The concept of the WPC began last session when lawmakers began talking about what they could do to boost the paper industry.

The mission of the group is to inform and educate other legislators and the public about the importance of papermaking, forestry and printing to our great state. Additionally, the caucus will work to highlight the history, diversity and positive environmental contributions of job creators.

Jeff Landin of the Wisconsin Paper Council praised the coordinators of the group, saying Wisconsin's paper industry is diverse and thriving in today's global market. Wisconsin is the top papermaking state in the nation.
