Owen City Council Discusses New Election Booths

-The Owen City Council discussed getting new voting booths at their meeting last week.City Clerk Terri Ernst presented a brochure of voting booths that are made of plastic and weigh less and would be more efficient for election set up. The Council tabled the issue in order for Clerk Ernst to get more pricing from other vendors.
The council also tabled the issue of the Local Government Property Insurance Fund and the Governor's proposal to close the Fund until more information becomes available as the LWMMI proposed to join with two other Municipal Mutuals to create a WI municipal property insurance carrier.
Also, Mel Lorence, Chairperson of the Personnel Committee gave a report on their process of hiring a wastewater treatment facility plant operator. The Committee recommended Todd Averill be hired with 1 week of vacation, starting wage rate of $21/hour and a review in 90 days with possible wage increase to $22/hour which the council approved.
