Xcel Energy Applies To Raise Rates

Xcel Energy today filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to set new electricity and natural gas rates effective January 1st of 2016.If approved as filed, a typical residential electricity customer would see an increase of $4.73 per month or about 16 cents a day, based on use of 750 kilowatt-hours. Xcel Energy is requesting to increase overall electricity base rates by $27.4 million.
If approved as filed, a typical residential natural gas customer using 55 therms a month would see a monthly increase of $3.02 or about 10 cents per day. Xcel Energy is requesting to increase overall natural gas base rates by $5.9 million.
The PSCW will hold hearings on the application this fall in Madison. A full hearing schedule, when determined, will be available on the PSCW's website.
