Clark County Board of Supervisors Hears 2014 Annual Forestry and Parks Department Report

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard the 2014 Annual Forestry and Parks Department report at their meeting last week.Some highlights include the record year in timber sales for the county. Total gross wood product revenue received in 2014 was $3,747,168. That was an increase of $1,238,385 over 2013. An additional $2,030 was received from the sale of 58 firewood permits. The total volume harvested by 25 different logging contractors from 84 active timber sale contracts in 2014 was 54,288 cord equivalents. Based on a DNR formula, around 1,905 jobs were created because of that.
Some other highlights include an increase in expenditures for the Clark County Fairgrounds. The expenditures increased by $14,269 from 2013. However, revenue increased slightly from last year. Revenue from camping fees totaled $440,014.92 which was a 4% decrease compared to 2013.
A few other items mentioned included Bruce Mound, the county trail systems, dam updates, forest roads, reforestation and more.
