Antique Appraiser Mark Moran Returning to the Neillsville Public Library This Saturday, Part 1
Tuesday, May 26th, 2015 -- 1:16 PM
-Antique Appraiser Mark Moran will be at the Neillsville Public Library on Saturday, May 30th from 9am to Noon.Mark has been in the area before and always has a good time. He encouraged the public to come and have an item appraised, just come and watch or come ask questions.
Mark said, "My next event in the area will be back at the Neillsville Public Library and that's on May 30th, we're going to be starting at 9am. I just want to thank Jo Ann Gustavson for bringing the program back to Neillsville. And, as always, these events are antique appraisals and theater. So, the public is welcome to come and watch and listen and ask questions and learn about all kinds of antiques and collectibles."
He continued, "But I do these programs at libraries, historical societies and senior communities all over the mid-west. I've been doing them now for four years, going on five years this fall. So, when people bring in their items we can talk about value, history and usage and it's a lot like Antiques Roadshow."
"The events have just been wildly popular," Mark said. "And I think one of the reasons for that is that people like the fact that this is not a shopping trip for me. I never offer to buy or sell on a commission at any of these antique appraisal events. And I think people like that. They know that they're getting good information with an ulterior motive. I'm not looking to pick up a bargain and turn around and sell it to make money on it. There's nothing wrong with that. That's what an antiques dealer does. I am not an antique dealer, I'm an appraiser only. So, these programs, and the house calls that I do, are I'll that I do.
Once again, Mark will be at the Neillsville Public Library on Saturday, May 30th from 9am to Noon and the cost to have an item appraised is $15 with $5 going to the library.
