New Course and Curriculum Updates at Neillsville School Board Meeting

-The Neillsville School Board discussed and approved a new course and some curriculum updates at their meeting on Monday.The new course is a video production class. The class will actually make videos, with various topics, that will be seen by the rest of the district; so there will be a wider focus and they won't be doing the video just for the grade. The board also heard how well their new reading series is going and it was stated that parents may eventually be able to see the curriculum of teachers so they know what their child is learning.
The board also approved three donations. The approved a $30,000 donation from the Listeman Foundation for the pool project, which brings the total to $50,000. They also approved a $2,900 donation for half of the cost of new microphones by the Neillsville Area Players and they approved a donation of the DVD Selma from Paramount Pictures. Selma is the film about Martin Luther King Jr.'s march during the civil rights movement.
