Marshfield Man Pleads Not Guilty to Sexual Assault of a Child

-A Marshfield man has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault of a child.The victim, 25-years-old today, told authorities that in 1999, at 11-years-old, she worked at the Park View Pet Motel. She told authorities that on numerous occasions the owner, Ray Poeppel who's 84 today, would sit down behind her and inappropriately touch her.
Poeppel is being charged with repeated sexual assault of a child and his attorney entered a not guilty plea to the charge on his behalf in Wood County Court on Monday. He also requested a substitution of judge.
He's currently free on a $5,000 signature bond and if convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount, he could spend 40 years in prison.
