Owen-Withee School Board Discusses WIAA Annual Meeting

The Owen-Withee School Board discussed the WIAA Annual Meeting and Strategic Planning at their meeting last Monday.District Administrator Bob Houts updated the Board on the status of the proposed amendments at the WIAA Annual Meeting in April. After much discussion and several amendments that would have changed placement of schools in the different tournaments based on success, free and reduced lunch students, multipliers, etc., nothing was approved and the status quo will prevail for at least one more year. One thing that did get approved by the Board of Control was the decision to suspend dues for the next two years. This will save the district about $600 per year.
The board also reviewed the strategic planning meeting that was held on April 29. Thirty-six people participated in the meeting and generated several ideas for the Board to consider. The next meeting will be on May 27th. The task of the committee at that meeting will be to prioritize the ideas generated at the April meeting so that the Board has an indication of what our community is looking for in a five year plan for the District
