Neillsville School Board Approves Bids for Several Items

-The Neillsville School Board approved the May Operational Plan and calendar at their meeting.

The calendar is basically the same as April’s calendar.  The Board also approved the new online handbook for the summer school course offerings as presented.  The Board also approved the bus bid of $84,825 from Wisconsin Bus Sales as presented and approved the bid of $12,333 from First Agency for student insurance for 2021-2022.

The Board also approved the high school hallway flooring bid from Russell’s of Neillsville for the sum of $44,935.69 and approved the high school cold water piping replacement bid from Staley Plumbing for the sum of $6,675.

The Board also approved the wood shop dust collector and finishing booth upgrade bids from Synergic Industrial for the sum of $99,542 and approved the middle school roof replacement bid from Maurer Roofing for the sum of $248,500.

The Board also approved the design bid of $19,750 from Wendel for a canopy addition as presented.  The Board also approved a donation from Rick Tomasello for Precision Tools.

In Employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Scott Goeppinger from his special education teaching position effective at the end of the current school year.

The Board also approved the hiring of Cody Roman as a teaching assistant, approved a memorandum of understanding for Allison Laufenberg as presented, approved the bus driver contracts for the 2021-2022 school year as presented, approved the teacher contracts for the 2021-2022 school year as presented, and approve the hiring of Nate McDonald for the middle school track coaching position.

The Board also approved the administrator contract for Marcy Kunze for 2021-2023 as presented, approve the administrator contract for Kory Poeschel for 2021-2023 as presented, approved the administrator contract for Craig Anderson for 2021-2023 as presented, and approve the administrator contract for John Gaier for 2021-2023 as presented.

The Board also heard from representatives from Wendel Companies, along with Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, as they presented preliminary designs for the high school entrance remodel.

Finally, the Board heard the Administrators’ Reports.  Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on attendance, remote learners, student council, art, music, physical education rotation changes, testing, reading instruction updates, and an end of the school year update.

Middle/High School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on attendance, remote learners, character trait of the month, 2021-2022 course registration, middle school chorus, library update, middle school spring sports, and professional development.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on attendance, remote learners, standardized testing updates, 2021-2022 school year scheduling updates, academic letter awards update, scholarship awards presentation, and graduation.

Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on a rise in natural gas prices, a letter from WIAA regarding a potential emergency assessment, and the district’s social media report card.
