Clark County Sheriff Sends Letter to Governor Walker About Implements of Husbandry Law

(Clark County Sheriff's Department Press Release) -Since raising constitutional concerns about certain provisions of Act 377, the Implements of Husbandry Law, Clark County Sheriff Greg Herrick has received numerous calls from farmers throughout Wisconsin expressing their concerns about operating their equipment and the potential for receiving unreasonably large fines.In response to their concerns, Sheriff Herrick recently sent a letter to Governor Scott Walker, the Wisconsin Legislature and Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Fitzgerald in order to raise their awareness of the constitutional infirmities of Act 377.
Sheriff Herrick believes that the Wisconsin Legislature failed to properly address the problems with Act 377 when it passed this legislation. In an attempt to correct the problems with the Implements of Husbandry legislation unreasonable weight limitations and excessive fines. Sheriff Herrick has contacted Governor Scott Walker, the Wisconsin Legislature, and Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Fitzgerald to raise their awareness of the problems that Act 377 has caused Wisconsin farmers and the negative impact it will have on Wisconsin agriculture.
As in the past, the Clark County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate any reports of possible overweight violations and the Sheriff's Office will continue to educate and instruct our county farmers how to comply with Act 377 requirements.
