Gas Leak and Vehicle Fire in Medford

-The Medford Police Department responded to a gas leak and vehicle fire in Medford on Wednesday.The call came in around 9:30am about a gas leak in the alleyway of the 300 block between South Main Street and South Second Street in the City of Medford.
An environmental company was performing soil testing and drilled into a gas line causing the leak. The leaking gas also ignited causing damage to two trucks owned by the company and two garages owned by local residents.
No injuries were reported and 60 people were evacuated. The Medford Police Department, Taylor County Sheriff's Department, Medford Fire Department, Medford Ambulance Service, Stetsonville Fire Department, WE Energies, Medford Wastewater Department, Medford Electric Utility and Medford Public Works Department all responded to the scene.
