Deferred Prosecution Agreement Reached in Eau Claire County Court for Marshfield Man Involved in Packers Tickets Scam

-A Marshfield man that scammed 15 people out of about $46,000 involving Green Bay Packers tickets appeared in Eau Claire County Court on Tuesday.Patrick Blachut was arrested after he offered to sell people Packers tickets at businesses in Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids. By the time he was arrested, most of the victims' money was gone as Blachut lost it gambling, had given it to family and paid some bills. He also scammed people in the Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls area.
The victims lived in Auburndale, Chippewa Falls, Fond du Lac, Marshfield, Plover, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids and some of them spent over $6,000 on what they thought were season tickets. The scam began to unravel after the people went to Lambeau Field to get the tickets and there were none.
During his appearance on Tuesday, Blachut entered a guilty plea to the felony theft-false representation charge filed against him. The district attorney and the defense reached a deferred prosecution agreement and Blachut will not appear in court again for that hearing until 2017.
