Former Owner of Rustic Mill Tavern in Jackson County Sentenced for Failing to Pay Taxes

-The former owner of the Rustic Mill Tavern near Black River Falls entered a plea for failing to pay taxes in Jackson County Court.According to a press release from the Department of Revenue, Brian Adkins, who operated the Rustic Mill Tavern in the Town of Albion, pleaded no contest to, and was found guilty of, one count of theft for failing to pay sales tax, as well as one count of failing to file withholding taxes.
Adkins was sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of extended supervision. Adkins also has to pay a total of $32,017 in taxes owed to the State.
Adkins was also found guilty of arson in October of last year after a fire on July 9th of 2011 caused heavy damage to the building. He was sentenced to two years in state prison and 15 years extended supervision.
