(AP) -Men in U.S. special operations forces don't believe women can meet the demands of commando jobs, and they fear the Pentagon will lower standards to integrate women into their elite units. That's according to internal surveys described in interviews and documents obtained by The Associated Press.
Dan Bland is the force management director for U.S. Special Operations Command. He tells the AP that the survey results show the need to do more to educate special forces members as integration of women into more military positions proceeds.
The personnel surveys revealed worries that leaders would "capitulate to political pressure" in opening new Special Forces jobs to women. And researchers found those concerns weren't limited to men. Women already serving in special operations jobs shared worries, too.
