Total Cheese Production Up for Sixth Month in a Row

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Total cheese production in the Dairy State has now gone up for six months in a row.The USDA reports that Wisconsin's dairy plants produced 226.2 million pounds of cheese during February, which was up five percent from February 2014, but 10.2 percent lower compared to this past January, partly due to February having less days on the calendar.
Nationally, 884 million pounds of cheese was produced in the United States. That was 3.9 percent more than the same month last year, but 9.5 percent below the previous month's production totals.
Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 21.7 million pounds, which was up 4.4 percent from last year, but 5.7 percent lower from last month.
