-The Owen City Council heard the Parks and Recreation Committee report at their meeting last week. The committee meeting was held on March 18th. It was reported that the money resulting in the land transaction with the railroad is $81,079.03 and they would like it to be designated to the Parks Outlay Budget which it was. The council then approved spending up to $3,000 at the Fanny Hill Auction to purchase a better grill, vent and stainless steel counters.
The council also approved the committee to request bids for siding of park buildings and fixing the burned railroad bridge to finish off the walking trail. They also approved spending funds to fix rotting lumber in the food stand on the swing up doors.
Finally, discussion was held on getting fill and sod in as soon as possible in the area of the park where the Owen Junior Fair Rides will be in July. A suggestion was received to fix the Crowley Campground Bathroom facility and add showers.
