Jackson County Man Sentenced for Strangling a Woman

-A Jackson County man was sentenced for abusing and strangling a woman under a bridge for almost three hours.Back in November of 2014, Gabriel Downey of Shell Lake was arrested after the woman he was abusing escaped and told authorities she was abused for several hours by him under the Black River Bridge on Main Street in Black River Falls. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Downey pleaded guilty to a false imprisonment charge back in January and the remaining charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 3 years' probation. He must also receive anger management counseling and receive a full mental health evaluation.
