-The Clark County 4-H has already been involved in some great events with plenty more on the horizon.Chris Hollar, Clark County's 4-H Youth Development Agent, talked about the great support the county 4-H receives from local FFAs and parents, some projects coming up that will lead into the fair and a new event she'd like to have at the fair this year.
Chris said, "There's so many assets in Clark County. Particularly with the youth, the parents, with our FFA folks, there's just a huge support for 4-H in Clark County, which is just fantastic. I'm kind of excited to see everything coming up."
"We have our foods review in May and then the clothing review in June and then the fair which is a culmination of everything. But really, we'd like to do something for our 4-Hers that are aging out. I mean, you can be in 4-H from 2nd and 3rd grade all the way up to grade, they call it 13, but really a year after high school so your Freshmen year in college. It would be nice to try and recognize those folks at the fair. They're there and they're not at school or there not somewhere else, which can be a challenge. But to do something fun. The little kids look up to these older kids."
"So, I just want to, hopefully, show that at the fair. Like on Friday evening from 8-10 in the dairy arena. Hopefully, just have some music playing and recognize the graduates. Nothing big, formal, it would be more fun like the squirrely awards. But then just activities, like make and take activities, cards, games and just a fun play in the sawdust, stuff like that."
"Those kind of subtle things just to say, you know, we're really proud of these folks. They deserve recognition. Just a lot of good things that could happen and are happening."
Coming up on Thursday, Chris will talk about some of the events the individual 4-H groups do to help the community.
