Clark County Area Food Pantry and Resource Center Meets With Potential Volunteers

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015 -- 10:53 AM

-The Clark County Area Food Pantry and Resource Center took another step on the road to becoming a great resource for county residents.

Last night, a meeting was held for interested residents to become volunteers at the pantry. There was a large group in attendance and they heard about the formation of the pantry, the need present in Neillsville and the county, the other services that will be offered and more. The group heard from members involved in the formation including Judy Morrow, Deanna Heiman, Jody Conner, Nikki King and Nancy Vance.

The food pantry and resource center will not only provide food for those in need, but it will offer opportunities to gain employment, and other resources, to help individuals reduce their dependency on the pantry. Funding for the pantry will be provided through donations, grants and money remaining in the food pantry account.

It was stressed that this food pantry and resource center is for the whole county and should be supported by the entire community. This has already proven true as business members, the Neillsville Optimist Club, churches, the county Social Services, the county UW-Extension and more have offered support and even sit on the pantry's board of directors. There will be another meeting for volunteers on April 7th at 7pm and the pantry hopes to open soon.
