Fire Department and CDA Reports at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard the Fire Department Report and CDA Report at their recent meeting.The Owen-Withee-Curtiss Fire District bought an EMS Support Command vehicle from Courtesy Auto in Thorp for $12,000. At the next meeting in April, options for fire protection assessments will be discussed and the equipment is in need of some updates. The pumper truck has received a few bids for $2,000, but the Fire District would like $3,000 for it.
For the CDA Report, CDA Director Tim Swiggum said the Dollar General will be breaking ground soon. James Louks, who is opening a business in Owen, met with Sheila Nyberg, the Executive Director of the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and discussed new market tax credits that he can take advantage of. Woodland Hotel was bought and renovation work is ongoing. The asbestos report for the old railroad shed came back clean. The Downtown Revitalization quorum issue will be taken care of in April. They are moving forward with the Car Show and Battle of the Bands and more vendors for the Farmer's Market are wanted.
