Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports, District

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators' Reports at their recent meeting.District Administrator Bob Houts notified the board that, in addition to the NHS trip, the FFA had an overnight trip in Eau Claire on March 20th-21st and the FBLA will be attending their State competition in La Crosse April 12th-14th.
The district has applied to the JJ Watt Foundation for at grant totaling $5800 for Junior High uniforms and equipment and the English Department's grant application to Eastbay made it through the first round and is a finalist, one of ten, for the $25,000 grand prize.
Mr. Houts also asked the board their wishes on communications needed regarding the 2015-17 state budget. With the current language in the budget, the district will see a shortfall of $350,000 dollars for next year. Unless something changes in the state budget, we will need to look at some serious cuts. The board suggested that informational letters about what is going on with state finances, sent to local newspapers and district families would be the best route to go.
