Parks and Recreation Committee Report at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard the Parks and Recreation Committee Report at their recent meeting.The meeting took place on February 18th. Discussions about redoing the volleyball court and horseshoe pits took place and to level off the park area for the carnival this July. Also, CDA Director Tim Swiggum was present to report that because Clark County is behind on their plans for outdoor recreation, the city cannot apply for the DNR trail grant.
The Mill Pond ice rink was a great hit this winter and possibly improving the warming shed was discussed and maybe moving the door to the other side. The heaters need to be checked to make sure they're turned off and the park bathrooms need to be unlocked on the weekends.
The Owen-Withee Lions had a very successful ice fishing contest. Quite a selection and nice sizes of fish were caught. If funds are available, maybe some buildings could be sided. The grills in the concession stand need replacement and maybe some equipment moved around.
